2021 Tax Information Reminders
The 2021 income tax season began this past Monday, January 24. The IRS urges taxpayers to file their tax returns electronically and to get their refunds by direct deposit to help ensure their tax return and refund don’t face processing delays.
Here is what you need to know about 2021 tax information for your First State Bank accounts:
- 1099 and 1098 (mortgage interest) forms were mailed on January 21. “Interest Last Year” can also be found on the Account Information tab in Online Banking for each account or loan.
- You will only receive a 1099-INT if total interest earned on your deposit accounts exceeded $10 in 2021.
- If you are having a tax refund electronically deposited to your First State Bank account, you will need First State Bank’s 9-digit routing number (075907497) along with the full account number for your account. Please contact your branch or our Customer Care Center (8 am-5 pm, Monday through Friday) if you do not have your full account number.
The deadline to file 2021 income tax returns is Monday, April 18, 2022. You can also make 2021 contributions to an IRA or HSA contribution until this deadline; however, you will need to wait to file your taxes until after any prior year contributions are made.
